3 suspects involved in illegal hunting arrested from Pishin, dead Markhor recovered

The Levies Force, while conducting an operation in the Bostan area of ​​Pishin district of Balochistan, arrested three people involved in the illegal hunting of markhor and registered a case. A dead markhor was also recovered from the possession of the accused.

According to Dawn News, Niaz Kakar, Project Director of the Wildlife Department, said that the Levies Force arrested three suspects and recovered a dead Markhor while conducting an operation in the Bostan area of ​​Pishin district.

According to Niaz Kakar, the arrested accused, Izhar Khan, Musawar Khan and Saddam Khan, had hunted Markhor in the Takto area, located behind the industrial zone in Bostan.

He said that a case has been registered against the arrested persons under the Wildlife Act, in which the accused may be fined Rs 1 million or more.

He said that hunting of Markhor is allowed only through trophy hunting. He said that last year, the biggest trophy hunting bid in the country was held in Chitral, in which an American citizen hunted a Markhor for Rs. 75 million.

He said that last year, permission was granted to hunt two Markhors under trophy hunting in Balochistan. One of them was hunted for Rs 30 million and the other for Rs 20 million.

It should be noted that last month, an American hunter in Chitral hunted a Kashmiri Markhor for the highest bid in history of $271,000 (75 million Pakistani rupees).

According to a report by Quamitarrap newspaper, an 80-year-old American hunted an 11-year-old Kashmiri Markhor with 49.5-inch horns for $271,000 in a game reserve managed by the Toshi Shasha community in Chitral.

The American citizen had obtained a hunting permit from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department for $271,000.
